This post shows 5 thumbnails that I drawn in pen. They are all examples of real media magazines from covers from different countries and years.
The first front cover thumbnail was taken from Q magazine. It was published in august 2001 and it is a magazine from United Kingdom. The magazine has many codes and conventions such as; a masthead, central image, puff, secondary images, cover lines, graphical feature and a bar code. The magazine also offers a free insensitive, as it offers a CD that is stuck on the bottom left corner of the magazine. The second magazine is from NME and was published on May 2nd 2011 in the United Kingdom. This magazine in similar to Q in the way it has all the same codes and conventions.
The next magazine is Creem. This was a thumbnail taken from a magazine published in May 1975 in the United States. It is evident that magazines have not changed there styles much over the years, as the codes and conventions are still the same as magazines published today today. The one difference noticed is that there isn't a headline but there are many cover lines, but other than this most the codes and conventions are the same as other real media examples. The other magazine is Mojo. It is a magazine from Britain and the thumbnail i drew was from a magazine published on December 2003. This magazine is much more plain and spaced out compared to the other magazines I looked at. I like this as it makes the magazine look more neat and vintage.
The final thumbnail i drew was taken from a Rolling Stone Magazine published on the 1st April in 2010 in the United States. I liked this one the best as it used many vibrant colours, and the central image of Jimi Hendrix shows authority and it is what the audience would aspire to be.
